At MacDowell, Ellen Slezak began work on her second novel. She is also the author of a short story collection, Last Year’s Jesus (Hyperion, 2003). She has also published short fiction, essays, and reviews in many publications, including American Literary Review, AGNI, The Sun, Crab Orchard Review, and The Los Angeles Times.

Ellen Slezak worked in the Mansfield studio.
The Helen Coolidge Mansfield Studio was donated by graduates of the Mansfield War Service Classes for Reconstruction Aides. Helen Mansfield helped found the New York MacDowell Club.
