Emily Kiernan is the author of a novel, Great Divide (Unsolicited Press, 2014). Her work has appeared in American Short Fiction, Pank, The Collagist, Redivider, and other journals. She is a prose editor at Noemi Press and a fiction editor at Rivet: The Journal of Writing that Risks. She recently completed Sweethearts: A History, a hybrid memoir about her grandparents, the 20th century, and the making of the atomic bomb.

In residence, she completed the long first section of her novel, Todos Vuelven, a story of young love and radical politics set during the Second World War. She also began work on the libretto of an as-yet unnamed opera about the death of Vincent Van Gogh and Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, a collaboration with her brother, Kevin Kiernan.

The yellow clapboard New Jersey Studio, located on a grassy, sloping site, was funded by the New Jersey Federation of Women’s Clubs and built as an exact replica of Monday Music Studio (1913).
