Writer, lecturer, and transgender activist Erica Connerney holds a bachelor’s degree in religion from Wheaton College and a master’s in religion from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She has worked as an editor for Tricycle Magazine and Vera Lex Journal of the Natural Law Society in New York City, and a correspondent for the Institute of Current World Affairs in India. Connerney is currently an adjunct professor at Pace University in Manhattan, where she teaches philosophy.

She is the author of The Upside-down Tree: India’s Changing Culture (2009), which she worked on at MacDowell in 2008.

Erica Connerney worked in the Sorosis studio.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).
