Frank Sellitto received a B.F.A. in photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He furthered his photographic studies and received a M.F.A. at the Rhode Island School of Design where he studied with Gary Metz, Wendy McNeil, and William Parker. He is a MacDowell Fellow and a recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim fellowship. His work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

Frank Sellitto worked in the Putnam studio.

The Graphics Studio (as it was originally named) was converted to its present use in 1972–1974 through a grant from the Putnam Foundation, and originally served the property as both a power house and pump house.
