Gretchen Skogerson is a video maker and installation artist based in New York City. She currently teaches in the Film/Video department at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, MA. She received her M.F.A in electronic arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, her M.A. in cinema studies from New York University and her A.B. in art history from Columbia University. Her video and installation work has been shown at the 2008 Whitney Biennial, the New York Film Festival, the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands, The Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, PA, and the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, OH. She has received grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, the LEF Foundation and Massachusetts College of Art. As an artist-in-residence she has spent time at Yaddo, The Mattress Factory, and Ucross.

Studios

Mixter

Gretchen Skogerson worked in the Mixter studio.

Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925. Mixter Studio, solidly built of yellow and grey-hued granite, once had sweeping views of Pack Monadnock to the east. The lush forest has now grown…
