H. Lan Thao Lam spent her time in residence working on new sculptures for Saxa Loquuntur, a mixed-media installation that re-creates Sigmund Freud’s prized collection of antiquities in order to foreground a story of displacement. The work was created for an exhibit at Gallery MC in New York. After Engelman, the video component of the installation, was screened at Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 2013. Lam was also part of the Auckland International Festival of Photography in New Zealand in 2016.

H. Lan Thao Lam worked in the Cheney studio.

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
