Heidi Carla has received writing fellowships from the Albee and Hedgebrook foundations, and MacDowell. She has written plays that have been produced for stage and radio, and that have appeared in several books and drama journals. Carla began writing her first children’s book, The Tiny Portrait, while researching her own family tree with her sister Karla Cinquanta (illustrator). She lives in Rhode Island.

The yellow clapboard New Jersey Studio, located on a grassy, sloping site, was funded by the New Jersey Federation of Women’s Clubs and built as an exact replica of Monday Music Studio (1913).
