Helen McAlister is a Scottish painter. She studied drawing and painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and graduated with honors in 1991. Her art has been exhibited internationally. From 1991-2004, she was a part-time lecturer at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, and from 2001-2004, she was a part-time lecturer at Edinburgh College of Art.

Helen MacAlister worked in the Adams studio.

Given to the MacDowell Association by Margaret Adams of Chicago, the half-timbered, stuccoed Adams Studio was designed by MacDowell Fellow and architect F. Tolles Chamberlin ca. 1914.
