Hilary Irons is a painter living and working in Portland, Maine. She studied painting at the Parsons School of Design and Yale School of Art (M.F.A. 2008), and has attended residencies at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, the American Academy in Rome, MacDowell, the Stephen Pace House, and Hewnoaks. She is the recipient of a Leon Levy Grant and an Al Held Prize. Hilary is also a co-director of Able Baker Contemporary, an artist-run gallery, in Portland's Arts District.

Hilary Irons worked in the Putnam studio.

The Graphics Studio (as it was originally named) was converted to its present use in 1972–1974 through a grant from the Putnam Foundation, and originally served the property as both a power house and pump house.
