Jan Mammey worked on a photo book titled Rücksicht auf Verluste/Concern for casualties. The title is derived from a German idiom and describes the need for a shared recognition for certain phenomena in our built environment, which usually lie beyond the threshold of our conscious grasp, thereby constituting the losses (“casualties”) of our range of perception.

Jan Mammey worked in the Cheney studio.

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
