At MacDowell in 2003, John Dalton worked on stories and did the final edits on his first novel, Heaven Lake which would be published by Scribner in Spring of 2004.

During his 2004 Fellowship, he focused on early chapters of his second novel. His first, Heaven Lake, was chosen by Barnes and Noble for their Great New Writers program.

Sorosis

John Dalton worked in the Sorosis studio.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).
