At MacDowell in 2004, Karl, Nussbaum completed a book of 200 new collage sketches and film backgrounds for an entitled film project about traveling through the human body. His recently finished film, Thanos and Eros screened in film festivals in Berlin, Hamburg, South Korea, Montreal, Toronto, and Philadelphia.

During his 2005 residency, he continued work on the storyboards and script for The Transparent Man, a film project about tiny people traveling through the human body. He also finished a cycle of four short animated film sketches, and made a few dozen new collages and some biological props.

Studios

Mixter

Karl Nussbaum worked in the Mixter studio.

Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925. Mixter Studio, solidly built of yellow and grey-hued granite, once had sweeping views of Pack Monadnock to the east. The lush forest has now grown…
