Kate Folk worked on her debut novel, Scrims, about a technology that outsources emotional labor, AI prosthetic limbs, and the pitfalls of human intimacy. Her work has appeared in Granta and Conjunctions and is forthcoming in One Story. She lives in San Francisco, where she is an affiliate artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts.

The yellow clapboard New Jersey Studio, located on a grassy, sloping site, was funded by the New Jersey Federation of Women’s Clubs and built as an exact replica of Monday Music Studio (1913).
