Kathy Bartlett is a painter and visual artist from New Zealand, based in the Wairarapo region, and most widely known for her work in portraiture. Bartlett studied at the Learning Connexion in Wellington, and has recently participated in the FORWARD billboard public exhibition as part of the 2015 Kokomai Festival, and has exhibited work in Melbourne and Wellington.

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
