Laura Schadler worked on her second novel. Her fiction has appeared in The Southern Review, Denver Quarterly and West Branch, among others. Her story collection River of Fast Rising Water was a finalist for the Flannery O'Connor Short Fiction Award. She teaches writing to at-risk youth and writes about popular culture for KQED in San Francisco.
