Laurie Thomas is a writer and filmmaker currently at work on a series of memoirs. She most recently produced the short film Everybody Dies! for the omnibus feature Collective:Unconscious (2016), which premiered at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival. In nonfiction, her commissioned docu-series Essence: Black Girl Magic was nominated for a 2017 National Magazine Award. Her short film Prima Donna won the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Short at the 2012 Florida Film Festival and was submitted for the Best Live Action Short category at the 2013 Academy Awards.
