Pang-Chieh Hsu is a Taiwanese painter currently living in America. He was born in Miaoli, Taiwan, studied in New York in 1990, and is a representational artist whose works express his fascination with the ways in which natural light illuminates objects. He is especially interested in capturing how sunlight strikes objects in ways that make these objects appear to glow from within or glare. He works as a TA for the Arts Department of Armstrong Atlantic State University in Georgia State. Showered with the cultures of both East and the West, Hsu tries to integrate his own personal memories and experiences in his compositions showing both exquisite quality and emotional expression

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
