T Cooper is the author of seven novels, including the best-selling The Beaufort Diaries and Lipshitz Six, or Two Angry Blondes, as well as co-author (with Allison Glock-Cooper) of the new, four-part young adult novel series entitled Changers. Cooper’s most recent solo book is the non-fiction Real Man Adventures. His television writing credits include Netflix’s “The Get Down,” BBC America’s “Copper,” and he is currently writing/producing on “The Blacklist” (NBC). Cooper has also written for radio.

Cooper recently completed his first feature-length documentary, Man Made, which had its festival run in 2018–2019, (the film has appeared in more than 50 festivals in the U.S. and abroad, having won 11 festival prizes to date). Cooper is also a professor of creative writing and English at Emory University.

T Cooper was born and raised in Los Angeles, attended Middlebury College, and then taught high school in New Orleans before settling in New York City in the mid-1990s. He earned an M.F.A. from Columbia University, and in addition to his books, Cooper’s work has appeared in a variety of publications and anthologies. His short story “Swimming” (The New Yorker), was one of “100 Distinguished Stories” in The Best American Short Stories 2008 (ed. Salman Rushdie).

Cooper has been awarded residencies to MacDowell, Ledig House International, and The Millay Colony (where he was The New York Times Foundation Fellow). He was also a Fellow and recipient of a grant from the Sundance Documentary Film Program (for Man Made).

Cooper also adapted and produced a short film based on his graphic novel The Beaufort Diaries. The animated short, starring actor David Duchovny, was an official selection at several film festivals, including Tribeca and South by Southwest.

Cooper enjoys vintage airplanes,” M*A*S*H,” the great outdoors, espresso, world peace, and anything to do with pit bull advocacy. He lives with his wife and children in Atlanta and New York City.

Sorosis

T. Cooper worked in the Sorosis studio.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927). At the time of construction, the large porch on the southeast façade offered a spectacular mountain view that has since been obscured…
