Tom Piazza is a writer of fiction and nonfiction. He worked on his fourth novel while in residence at MacDowell. He was a principal writer for HBO's dramatic series Treme, and the winner of a Grammy Award for his album notes to Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues: A Musical Journey. His most recent book is the novel A Free State, published in 2015.

Mansfield

Tom Piazza worked in the Mansfield studio.

The Helen Coolidge Mansfield Studio was donated by graduates of the Mansfield War Service Classes for Reconstruction Aides. Helen Mansfield helped found the New York MacDowell Club. The small, shingled frame structure with stone foundation was originally fronted on the west side by a neat white picket fence and gate, a garden, and a stone pathway…
