William Thomas Walsh (1891–1949) born in Waterbury, CT, was an historian, educator, and author; he was also an accomplished violinist. His educational background included a B.A. from Yale University (1913). Walsh received an honorary Litt.D. from Fordham University.



William Walsh worked in the Schelling studio.

Marian MacDowell funded construction of this studio the year that the organization was established and the first artists arrived for residency.
